Mitchell Threatens Loan Cutoff to Israel

The Obama administration threatens to withhold loan guarantees to Israel if it doesn't concede to "palestinian" demands. Fearful and impotent when it comes to our enemies, hussein obama attempts to show he is tough when it comes to our ally, Israel. Perhaps I am being too generous however in describing the true motives behind this administration's foreign policy. Hussein obama chooses not to get tough with America's enemies because he himself is an enemy of America and of course Israel and supports the aims of the Iranian mullahs, hamas, hezbollah etc.

Bibi needs to tell Mitchell and obama where to shove their LOANS. And the key word here is "loans", contrary to haters of Israel who claim America provides it with handouts. Didn't Israel survive and thrive for decades without loans from America? Perhaps this could be a blessing in disguise for Israel who shouldn't have to suffer for the catastrophic mistake of the lazy, uninformed and misinformed American electorate.

Israel in Response to Mitchell Loan Guarantee Threat: Blame PA

(IsraelNN.com) The Prime Minister's Office reacted Sunday to an implied threat by U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East, George Mitchell, regarding American loan guarantees to Israel. Mitchell had said that his country could withhold support on loan guarantees to pressure Israel in negotiations with the Palestinian Authority.

Israel rebuffed the threat. “It is the Palestinian Authority that refuses to renew the peace process," a statement released by the Prime Minister's Bureau stated, "while we have carried out significant steps. It is the PA that must change its ways.”
The special envoy, former U.S. Senator George Mitchell, was asked by a TV interviewer on Thursday what types of pressure could be exerted upon Israel to get the diplomatic negotiations underway again. Mitchell said, “Under American law, the United States can withhold support on loan guarantees to Israel," and added that the previous Bush administration had in fact done so. “But I prefer persuasion to sanctions,” he said afterwards.

McCain, Lieberman: Congress Will Not Freeze Aid to Israel

(IsraelNN.com) Four U.S. senators, including White House hopefuls John McCain, a Republican from Arizona, and Joe Lieberman, an Independent from Connecticut, vowed during a visit to Israel Sunday that Congress would not approve cutting loan guarantees to the Jewish State. They were reacting to U.S. Middle East envoy George Mitchell, who proposed the option during an interview with American television journalist Charlie Rose.

Mitchell later denied that he made a threat or an “implied threat" although a transcript of the interview states, “Under American law, the United States can withhold support on loan guarantees to Israel. President George W. Bush did so...on one occasion... That’s one mechanism that’s been publicly discussed.”

Republican Senators John Barrasso of Wyoming and John Thune of South Dakota agreed with McCain and Lieberman that “any attempt to force Israel to negotiate by denying Israel’s support will not pass the U.S. Congress.”

All four senators are wrapping up a trip that has taken them to Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Lebanon and Israel.

Senators McCain and Lieberman also visited the Western Wall (Kotel), where they were hosted by Western Wall Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz. They reminded Rabbi Rabinowitz of their visit to the Wall and the Western Wall Tunnels a year ago. McCain said he learned then of the deep bonds linking the Jewish People with the holy site. The rabbi showed them the most recent archaeological finds in the area.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak met with all four of the visiting Senators in Jerusalem earlier in the day. “I am happy to meet with these Senate leaders and old friends of Israel who have proven their support at difficult moments,” Barak said. “I am confident that Israel will continue to enjoy their support in all situations in the future."

Isreal has stated publicly that they don't need the US loan guarantees.
Therefore the US shouldn't force them to take it.
Withdraw the guarantees.
Even Israel says aren't needed.
