Naming the Enemy
The president finally admits we are at war. However he only acknowledges that we are at war specifically with al qaeda. He can't bring himself to acknowledge that we are in fact at war with islam itself, not singularly al qaeda. Al qaeda is simply carrying out the doctrine of islam as commanded in the koran and it is hardly the only group waging jihad.

There lots of permutations of Al Qaeda and lots of Islamist groups bent on mass murder. America is still not prepared to the the fact its at war with an ideology that seeks to destroy it and subvert its way of life.
