Leftists Welcome Tariq Ramadan

While Israeli nuclear scientists were denied visas to come to America, terror apologist tariq ramadan on the other hand was granted a visa and he attended a panel discussion in New York City titled “Secularism, Islam and Democracy: Muslims in Europe and the West”. Fern Sidman reported on the event.

On the question of the rampant oppression of women in the Muslim world, panelist Joan Wallach Scott, a Ramadan supporter, asserted that the issue of gender equality “has been used as a veil” to divert attention from the “social inequality” of Muslims in the Western hemisphere. Citing purported discriminatory practices against Muslims in such countries as France, Scott said that “unemployment is higher for Muslims in France than it is for French nationals” and that Muslims are viewed as “inferior” in the West. From a historical perspective she described Muslims as a “colonized people”, subject to prejudice in its most banal form.

muslims of course have freedom in western countries which is something they don’t have in muslim countries nor do non-muslims have in muslim countries.

muslims view non-muslims as inferior. And throughout the history of islam, muslims are the ones who were the colonizers. From the Middle East to Africa, the Indian sub-continent and Europe, islam has violently conquered indigenous peoples and stripped them of their cultures and religions and languages.

Refusing to address such pervasive misogynistic practices in the Islamic world as forced marriages, stonings, beatings, immolations and honor murders of women, Scott pointed to what she perceived as the sheer hypocrisy of the Western patriarchy which she claims is trying to interfere with the reproductive rights of American women, but are “suddenly concerned and overly involved in the oppression of Muslim women.” She concluded by saying that Muslim women wear head scarves, veils, burqas and hijab of their own volition and not because they are coerced by the religious dictums of Islamic culture. She called gender equality a “political tool” that has nothing to do with protecting the rights of Muslim women”.

Yes because being pro-life and opposing abortion is akin to “honor” murders, stonings, floggings and female genital mutilations which takes place in the muslim world.

This Joan Wallach Scott is a joke and its disgraceful that a self-proclaimed feminist western woman would be an apologist for and defender of the violent and murderous misogyny of islam. When it comes to islam, gender equality and the rights of women mean nothing to left-wing feminists who are more than willing to throw women in the muslim world under the bus and cover up for their male oppressors and brutalizers all for the greater goal of forming an alliance with jihadis to destroy western civilization.
