AAP Succumbs to sharia

Even the American Association of Pediatricians has lost its moral compass and is succumbing to political correctness, multiculturalism and sharia. They are advocating laws be changed to allow them to perform a "ritual nick" to young girls. The justification being that these families will take their daughters overseas to undergo full clitorectomies. This practice in any form has no place in America and instead of compromising with this hideous sharia ritual, pediatricians ought to be reporting these parents for child abuse if FMG has been performed. The AAP has disgraced itself. Is there any institution left in America willing to take an uncompromising stand against evil?

For purposes of comparison, contrast the AAP's 1998 recommendations with the 2010 version. The 1998 recommendations:

The American Academy of Pediatrics:
1. Opposes all forms of female genital mutilation (FGM).
2. Recommends that its members actively seek to dissuade families from carrying out FGM.
3. Recommends that its members provide patients and their parents with compassionate education about the physical harms and psychological risks of FGM.
4. Recommends that its members decline to perform any medically unnecessary procedure that alters the genitalia of female infants, girls, and adolescents.

The 2010 version:

The American Academy of Pediatrics:
1. Opposes all forms of FGC that pose risks of physical or psychological harm.
2. Encourages its members to become informed about FGC and its complications and to be able to recognize physical signs of FGC.
3. Recommends that its members actively seek to dissuade families from carrying out harmful forms of FGC.
4. Recommends that its members provide patients and their parents with compassionate education about the physical harms and psychological risks of FGC while remaining sensitive to the cultural and religious reasons that motivate parents to seek this procedure for their daughters.

The word "mutilation" has been abandoned in favor of the non-judgmental "c" for "cutting". The "decline to perform" absolutism of Recommendation #4 has been removed, and replaced with "remaining sensitive to the cultural and religious reasons" - which is multiculti PC cover for "ritual nicks". Look at the difference between the 1998 policy and the revised 2010 version, and then ponder what accommodations with "cultural and religious sensitivities" we'll be making another decade down the road when the AAP next takes a stab at it (so to speak).
