Scapegoating Israel and Jews

According to liberal opinion makers, the reason muslims murder Americans along with each other, and wage jihad from the Middle East to Africa to the Indian subcontinent and around the globe, is the fault of the Jews. It simply would never occur to them that it has anything to do with the muslims own ideological beliefs as stated in the koran. To acknowledge that fact would mean acknowledging that there is something inherently evil about islam, and that is simply taboo amongst the multicultural elite. So they blame the existence of Israel. As the west becomes increasingly terrified and impotent in the face of islamic aggression, there will be an upsurge in scapegoating of the Jews and Israel. These are very dangerous and false views that are being spread by apologists for islam. The left is guilty of instigating anti-Semitism worldwide.

The Region: All Israel, all the time

By BARRY RUBIN, Jerusalem Post

Are we to believe all the ills of Arab-speaking world are almost entirely caused by Israel’s existence, the Arab-Israeli conflict and situation of Palestinians?

Isimply cannot comprehend why many in the West refuse to see that Arabs can be revolutionaries. It is remarkable that so many who claim to be experts don’t incorporate the idea that Arabs, like other peoples, might be motivated by ideologies claiming to be the blueprints for utopias.

After all, if Africans, Asians, Europeans and Latin Americans can think and behave this way, why can’t Arabs?

The two paragraphs above are written in response to yet another book, by a very experienced expert on the region, claiming that al-Qaida is almost completely motivated by the Palestinian issue, as well as a couple of articles claiming that the only reason the United States or President Barack Obama isn’t popular in the Middle East is due to Israel.

In fact, al-Qaida, Hamas, Hizbullah, the Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamist groups have been overwhelmingly motivated by a desire to revolutionize the entire Muslim-majority world (and even the whole world) in line with their interpretation of Islam. Al-Qaida’s original cause was to overthrow the Saudi royal family, followed by an effort to help Iraq against Western pressure. In al-Qaida documents before and after the September 11 attacks, the Palestinian issue was not mentioned among the questions that motivated the group more than about 10 percent of the time. It was never highlighted, unlike the Saudi and Iraqi issues.

In addition, radical Arab nationalists, including many intellectuals and several Arab regimes (Egypt, 1952-1970; Syria, 1949-present; Iraq, 1958-2003; Libya, 1973-present), have sought to unite the Arab world under their leadership, overthrow neighboring governments and expel Western influence in line with their ambitions and ideology.

When a recent poll in the Middle East showed that Obama was unpopular, America is widely seen as an enemy, and support for revolutionary Islamism is high, the explanation offered by the poll’s sponsors was that this is all due to US support of Israel.

YET WHY should this be so? Something doesn’t add up here.
