The issue was always the question of Obama's legitimacy which would not be determined alone by Obama's place of birth. Asssuming the released document is legitimate and Obama was indeed born in Hawaii. However he spent part of his childhood in Indonesia and from what I have heard, one had to be a citizen of Indonesia to have gone to school there. So did Obama become an Indonesian citizen during his childhood? And if so, did he ever relinquish his Indonesian citizenship and reestablish his American citizenship. If not, then he would be ineligible for the U.S. presidency. So it might be that Obama
didn't release his birth certificate in order to create a red herring, allowing
the focus to specifically be on his place of birth rather than the issue of Indonesian citizenship. This is why it is possible that Trump was in cahoots with Obama to
place all the attention on his birth certificate. Now the issue is deemed to be
settled and anyone who further challenges Obama's legitimacy will simply be seen
as a kook not worthy of being taken seriously. We must have access to other documents like his passport and college records. See The Case Against Obama's Eligibility.
