CUNY To Honor Anti-Israel Playwright

By honoring Israel-hating leftist playwright Tony Kushner, CUNY is yet another college distinguishing itself as supporters of the would-be perpetrators of another Jewish genocide. Tony Kushner is of the belief that the Jewish state should never have existed and has accused Israel of various blood libels while having nothing to say against the real perpetrators of ethnic cleansing, apartheid and other human rights atrocities such as hamas, hezbollah, Iran, Syria and all of the other regimes in the Middle East. This moral inversion is par for the course on the left. Now the courageous Jeffrey Wiesenfeld is the object of hatred and vilification from the left for his outspoken opposition to honoring Kushner.

When I first described the City University of New York as the Communist University of New York, I had no idea how right I was.

It seems that Dr. Michael Meeropol, the son of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, is one of two professors at John Jay College who nominated Tony Kushner for this honorary degree. Meeropol is a professor of economics.

No, I do not think that the Rosenbergs should be prosecuted over and over again; I do believe that Julius Rosenberg has been proven guilty over and over again. Meeropol's brother Robert has admitted that his father was guilty of being a spy for the Soviet Union.

Meeropol is currently a Visiting Professor of Economics at John Jay. Both he and Professor Amy Green, also at John Jay, nominated Tony Kushner.

As I predicted, CUNY has almost immediately reversed itself. Amidst an internet and email uprising by its faculty and by leading members of the left intelligentsia, the CUNY board of trustees will meet Monday to reconsider its decision to deny an honorary doctorate to playwright Tony Kushner.

Benno C. Schmidt Jr., chairman of the CUNY board since 2003, said in a statement that he believed the board had "made a mistake of principle, and not merely of policy," in failing to approve the degree from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice at its meeting on Monday. Mr. Schmidt scheduled a meeting for this coming Monday of the board's seven-member executive committee, which has the power to reconsider any board decision that is detrimental to the university.

CUNY To Honor Anti-American Playwright

"I hate America. I hate this country. It’s just big ideas, and stories, and people dying, and people like you. The white cracker who wrote the national anthem knew what he was doing. He set the word 'free' to a note so high nobody can reach it. That was deliberate. Nothing on earth sounds less like freedom to me. You come to room 1013 over at the hospital, I'll show you America. Terminal, crazy and mean. I live in America, that’s hard enough, I don’t have to love it. You do that. Everybody’s got to love something." Tony Kushner
